Financial / Management Reporting Accountant

About our role


To undertake the Company’s financial and management reporting activities, applying a strong understanding accounting policies and business needs.  To support the vision and strategy; whilst mitigating key risks and challenges and exploiting appropriate opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

·       Draft Annual Report and Accounts

·       Ensure all filings re: Distribution Technology Ltd and Dynamic Planner Ltd are undertaken in a timely manner, liaising with appropriate stakeholders

·       Undertake analysis and provide commentary as required

·       Support finance colleagues in their analysis

·       Create, update and manage audit schedules

·       Liaise with external auditors

.       Ensure compliance with accounting policies incl 3rd party engagement where appropriate, and provide ad-hoc advice as required e.g. IR35 (HR)


Management Reporting

  • To lead the monthly management report consolidation.
  • Draft EMT and Board packs / schedules for CFO review
  • Undertake analysis as required – incl KPIs
  • Work with budget holders and finance team to update forecasts
  • Work with budget holders and finance team to update create and develop budgets
  • Calculate / update VAT and CT estimates
  • To provide the business with professional, pro-active and pragmatic support in line with business needs


  • Lead on R&D (HMRC) claim calculations
  • Manage monthly reporting and year end reporting system processes.
  • Work with CFO, and CoSec on Options and dividend workings and papers.
  • Develop relationships and work collaboratively across the business
  • Support CFO with EMT activities and work collaboratively in the development and achievement of team vision / strategies and ad-hoc activities.  Provide support to the Finance team as necessary 

KPI's and Measures

  • Recording and reporting accuracy
  • Timeliness of reporting (monthly timetable)
  • Annual report and accounts completed in timely and professional manner
  • Process optimization to deliver accurate and appropriate reporting quicker to stakeholders (including changes to systems where necessary)
  • Timely updates to finance team, and appropriate stakeholders, on accounting changes and best practice Review analysis requirements, with stakeholders and implement approved changes

Key Deliverables

·       Drafting Board and management reporting packs

·       Annual report and accounts

·       Budget / Forecast updates with stakeholders

·       R&D claim (HMRC)

·       Inputs to CT return

·       VAT submission

·       Accounting advice

·       Undertake Financial Consolidations

·       General Ledger management Analysis of financials and KPIs – actuals, forecast and budget


Competencies (knowledge/skills/experience):


·       Qualified Accountant with 3+ years of PQE

·       Strong technical accountant

·       Consolidating accounts

·       R&D Claim (HMRC)

·       Ability to prioritise and work at speed, providing accurate, pragmatic and actionable advice to tight deadlines.

·       Ability to present authoritatively to internal and external stakeholders

·       Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to communicate with impact logical analysis, and advice to senior audiences using a variety of communication styles. 

·       High attention to detail and checking to a high standard

·       Desire to continually improve and develop

·       Highly collaborative and builds strong relationships.

·       Advanced MS Excel skills

·       Strong analytical skills

Non- essential, but would ideally have:

·       SaaS experience

·       Experience in Power BI / Tableau

·       Experience using Sage 200 (professional)

·       Experience in Financial system (new / upgrade)  implementation

·       Intermediate PowerPoint skills

.       Experience in Group consolidation incl overseas entities


Education and qualifications:


CIMA / ACA / ACCA qualified
